Description

As an activity director or leader one of your most important roles is to help people in a group feel at ease with one another.  That happens when everyone feels sale and valued, which in turn comes from people knowing one another, from having a warm relationship with one another.  Another way of looking at the idea is to think of yourself as a conductor trying to create fresh, interesting music and harmony from your participants/musicians.

This is part 1 of a 2-part course aimed at developing your skills as a discussion leader where discussion is the reason for the activity, but many of the ideas also apply when discussion is secondary, such as the background to painting birdhouses or making muffins.

Part 1 of this course covers:

  • The logistics, such as the room size, seating, and lighting
  • Your role as facilitator

This course has been pre-approved by the NCCAP.
